Please introduce yourself.

My name is Hong Kwang-woo, and in Japan, people call me “Hon Kan-ooh” or “Ganu.”
I am of South Korean nationality.
I’m attending Onomichi City University and am majoring in information science.
For my club activities, I am involved in the contemporary music club where I am in charge of vocals.
My hobbies include listening to music, traveling, playing video games, and reading.
My favorite Japanese artist is X-Japan, and I have traveled abroad to Japan, Vietnam, and Australia.
In terms of domestic travel within Japan, I have been able to visit roughly 13 prefectures.

Why did you choose to study abroad in Hiroshima?

My number one reason for choosing Onomichi City University was the specialized nature of its programs.
Another reason was my curiosity to find out how Hiroshima was able to achieve its remarkable post-war recovery after its tragic history of sustaining the worst damage of all of the prefectures due to such things as the devastation caused by the atomic bomb.
Finally, as an avid traveler, I would like to mention that Hiroshima is situated in a prime location for traveling, as it is right at the center between the Kansai region and Kyushu.
Those were my reasons for choosing Hiroshima.

What do you like about Hiroshima?
After doing some research, I found that Hiroshima Prefecture is less prone to sustaining damage due to such things as earthquakes and typhoons making landfall, and although this may sound a bit inappropriate, thanks to the island of Shikoku, we do not have to worry about tsunamis (tidal waves).
Additionally, there are no volcanoes in the vicinity, and there is also the advantage that there is not much snow fall during wintertime.
As Japan is often viewed as being disaster prone, I believe that these characteristics make this place absolutely great.
When going traveling, you can find destinations within the prefecture, such as Miyajima (shrine), the Shimanami Kaido (expressway), the Atomic Bomb Dome, and Onomichi, and since it is located right at the center of the Chugoku region, it is easy to access Yamaguchi, Okayama, Shimane, and Tottori, and as it is only about 2 hours away from Shikoku, I feel that it is in a great location.
Please provide a message to those considering to study abroad in Japan.

As studying abroad is definitely not something that one should take lightly, I recommend that you carefully consider the reasons for why you believe you want to study abroad.
Additionally, I also suggest that you think about what kind of person you want to become and what results you wish to achieve.
Furthermore, you should visualize the worst-case scenario that you can imagine, and contemplate how you would be able to cope with such a situation.
Finally, I urge you to imagine yourself in the future once you have achieved your success, as you concentrate your efforts in studying for tests, such as the EJU.
As Hiroshima Prefecture provides more opportunities for scholarships geared toward international students than other large urban areas, it’s a region that offers excellent financial advantages.
If you are seriously looking into studying abroad in Hiroshima, I would definitely like to welcome you to visit!
