Toukasan (festival for the start of wearing yukatas)

It is known as one of the three major festivals in Hiroshima, and people in Hiroshima are supposed to start wearing yukatas from this day on.

Place the main hall of Toukasan Temple in Mikawa-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City
Time and date from the first Friday to Sunday of June

Fireworks events

Onomichi Sumiyoshi fireworks have been held since the middle of Edo period in order to wish for the prosperity of business and the safety of sea traffic.

Location All around Hiroshima (The Onomichi Sumiyoshi fireworks and Hiroshima Yume Minato fireworks are the most famous. )
Time of year from mid-July to late August

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony

A ceremonial to console the victims and to pray for peace is held on the day that an atomic bomb was dropped on the city in 1945 for the first time in the world.

Place Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City
Time and date August 6th
 

Sunflower Festival

A total of 1,100,000 sunflowers of 60 different kinds bloom over a vast area, offering a beautiful view and appearing like a carpet of yellow.

Location Sera Kogen Farm in Sera-cho, Sera-gun, Hiroshima
Time of year From mid to late August
