Eikei University of Hiroshima is a "22nd Century-type University" that aims to foster the growth of the "change makers" that will bring positive change to society.
We aim to nurture the "practical skills" and globally-relevant "international cultural proficiency" needed to change society so that we can design a far-reaching vision for the century ahead.
The curriculum can be largely divided into the "acquisition" of knowledge/skills in fields such as the liberal arts, as well as the "practice" of problem-based learning (PBL).
For our liberal arts subjects, we have established axes of learning that involve the "5 Ps" (Peace, Partnership, People, Prosperity, and Planet) that have been defined by the United Nations in the pursuit of achieving the SDGs, and students will attain a cross-disciplinary understanding that spans various academic fields.
Furthermore, students will acquire the skills demanded of them by society, such as those involving ICT, the data sciences, and logical thinking, and they will enhance their digital literacy and critical thinking skills.
During their 2nd and 3rd years, students will engage in 3 practical problem-based learning (PBL) projects, and they will be tasked with real-world problem solving activities that have been designed by companies, etc.
All of our course offerings are taught in both Japanese and English, and of the 124 credits needed for graduation, students are required to earn 62 of their credits through courses taught in English (it is also possible for students to graduate by exclusively taking courses taught in English). Moreover, for students entering school during the spring semester, during the first half of their 1st year, they are offered an intensive English learning program where they will be trained so that they can reach a level where they can take courses given in English.
Additionally, students can also participate in exchange programs at universities with which we have established student exchange agreements.
