Hiroshima City University is a comprehensive university with 3 faculties and 4 research departments that operates under the fundamental principle of serving as an "international university that contributes to world peace and local communities through its focus on the sciences and arts."
Furthermore, the university has established the Hiroshima Peace Institute, with the aim of conducting research and presenting proposals for achieving world peace and happiness for all of humanity.
This school has established a special selection program for foreigners, and it is actively engaged in accepting international students from abroad.
Moreover, to provide its international students with a smooth experience in their studies and their everyday life in Japan, in addition to granting them access to an extensive offering of subjects allowing them to learn the Japanese language and to gain knowledge on Japanese affairs, this school also supports such accepted international students by introducing them to scholarship opportunities, enlisting students from the general student body to provide them with support (international student buddy system), conducting international exchange events, and establishing the "Sakura" international student dormitory, etc.
