The Prefectural University of Hiroshima is a comprehensive public university that was founded through the merger of three universities in the prefecture.
The university has three campuses that are located in Hiroshima City, Shobara City, and Mihara City.
We have a special selection program for foreign students at two of our faculties, namely, the Faculty of Regional Revitalization (Hiroshima City) and the Faculty of Bio-Resource Sciences (Shobara City), as well as for four different specializations at the graduate level at our Graduate School of Comprehensive Scientific Research in the following disciplines: Program in Human Culture and Science, Program in Information and Management Systems, Program in Biological System Sciences (Master’s/Doctoral course), and Program in Health and Welfare (Master’s course only). A large number of international students are already enrolled in these programs.
Although we offer a wide variety of programs to support international students, the following three characteristics set us apart from other academic institutions:
(1) International students who are living by themselves in Hiroshima will have their tuition course fees reduced by half (please note, however, that various conditions apply, such as the student needing to have earned a standard number of credits, etc.)
(2) Our university graduates have a high rate of employment, and since FY 2023 following the COVID-19 pandemic, our undergraduate students, graduate students, and international students have been able to maintain a 100% rate of finding employment.
(3) In addition to support for handling various procedures and formalities to quickly get used to everyday life in Japan that is provided by current students who serve as "buddy students," we also conduct a variety of events to promote interaction between students, such as welcoming parties and lunch events.
